Fragments
We start on Brushup Ch. 5.
For this next paper, in order to be thinking in terms of cause and effect, please consider a problem that you are familiar with. This is something that bugs you, that you have tried to fix, or that you would like to try to fix. Goal is to pick a topic with both causes and effects you can explore. You do not have to "solve" the problem.
Homework:
1. Fill a page in your daybook with brainstorming about possible topics for the next paper.
2. Brushup: Complete to page 62 and Practice 2.

Descriptive Paper Due
Before you turn in your papers, print a second copy of your paper. Do the following (write in daybook if needed):
1. Circle 5 coordinating conjunctions. List them in your daybook.
2. Circle 5 subordinating conjunctions. List them.
3. Underline two compound sentences. Chart them in your daybook.
4. Put wavey lines under two complex sentences. Chart them in your daybook.
5. On page 2, circle ALL the commas on the page.
If you spot any errors while doing this, you may write changes onto the clean copy.
Our next essay will be a cause and effect essay. See page 439.

Now take your account of your drive, and mark the subjects and verbs of the first 3 sentences. Put them on the board.

Believe it or not, that ties in to our reading in Seeing the Pattern on pages 144-146.

Now you do the preposition section in Brushup, pages 7- top of 9. Then label any prepositions you can find in your own paragraph.

- This June I will graduate. With twenty-four hours of courses in accounting. I have alot of previous experience. One was as a clerk in the school bookstore, the other doing data entry for ryder truck rental.
