Subjects and Verbs Some More

We check your homework tests.

Now take your account of your drive, and mark the subjects and verbs of the first 3 sentences. Put them on the board.

We watch a video about hot chilis -- sort of...

Believe it or not, that ties in to our reading in Seeing the Pattern on pages 144-146.

This is an example of a descriptive essay, the first kind of essay you'll be writing.

Homework:

1. Brushup: Do Chapter 2  More about Verbs. You may skim through because I expect you do know much of it. You only HAVE to do Tests 5 and 6 FOR ME (pages 37-38). You do whatever it takes to be ready for those two tests.

Diagnostic Essay

We check Tests 1 and 2.

Then you take the rest of class time to write a short essay on the topic I'll hand out. This is just to see what you already know; if you are familiar with the five paragraph essay, think of doing that for this assignment.

Homework:

1. Do Tests 3, 4, 5 and 6 in Brushup, pages 23-26.

2. In your daybook, keep writing the description of the route you drive to get here. Fill at least one page, and keep going until you arrive at Milford.

Subjects and Verbs

In your daybook, please write a paragraph that describes what you see when you walk in the door at your home. Start like this "As I walk in the door, I...." As you write, skip lines.

Next your will put an N, PN, V, LV, or HV above any that you can find in your paragraph.

Now you do the preposition section in Brushup, pages 7- top of 9.  Then label any prepositions you can find in your own paragraph.

Now it's time to move into Chapter 1. You do pages 17. We do the next few pages together.


For the last 5 minutes of class, please write a description of your route that you drive to get to Milford each day. Include as much detail as you can.

Homework:

Do Tests 1 and 2 pages 21 and 22 in Brushup.

Read pages 4-12 in Seeing the Pattern.

4. This June I will graduate. With twenty-four hours of courses in accounting. I have alot of previous experience. One was as a clerk in the school bookstore, the other doing data entry for ryder truck rental.
